4.1 Viscosity controll
Viscosity is a physical property
value related to the phenomenon in which molten powder flows between
the mold and the solidified shell, and has been one of the important
physical property values along with the solidification temperature
since the dawn of the flux for continuous casting. As mentioned above,
since the flux for continuous casting contains a large amount of SiO2,
its viscosity is closely related to the network structure of SiO2.
That is, by adding a basic oxide such as CaO or Na2O or a
fluoride such as CaF2 or NaF, the network structure of SiO2
is divided, and the fluid unit becomes smaller and its viscosity
decreases.
